Lorenzo Mendez, LPC

Licensed professional counselor (He/Him)

Therapy for Overthinkers, Grievers, and People Looking for Meaning Again

Lorenzo works primarily with adolescents, young adults, and adults navigating anxiety disorders, OCD, depression, agoraphobia, grief, relationship stress, and life transitions. He feels especially connected to young men, BIPOC clients, neurodivergent individuals, LGBTQ+ clients, and first-generation cycle breakers — while creating an affirming space for all.

He has a particular interest in working with teens and young adults. As a former middle school wrestling coach, Lorenzo understands the pressure, identity shifts, and emotional intensity that often come with adolescence. He brings that same steady, encouraging presence into the therapy room — helping clients build confidence, autonomy, and emotional regulation skills.

Lorenzo also has experience working with older adults (65+) and values the depth and perspective that comes with that stage of life.

A clinical niche of his includes working with OCD. Lorenzo has completed training in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), an evidence-based treatment for OCD, and continues to pursue additional education in this area. He helps clients learn how to face intrusive thoughts and compulsions in a structured, supportive way — building freedom instead of fear-based patterns.

His approach blends ACT, CBT, DBT, and Interpersonal Therapy in a practical, real-world way. Therapy with Lorenzo is collaborative and grounded. He believes clients are the experts of their lived experience and sees his role as helping you manage difficult thoughts and emotions so you can move toward a life that feels purposeful and aligned with your values.

Before becoming a therapist, Lorenzo worked in restaurants and manufacturing as a machine operator. Those experiences gave him firsthand understanding of high-pressure work environments and the quiet stress many people carry without talking about it.
